THE BEGINNING OF AN ADVENTURE

It seemed all so far away, that evening (or night) at the first days of November 1997, sat on a wet bench in the middle of Casola Valsenio, with Max Goldoni.
The discussion was about (as usual, since our first meeting in Casola) bringing the International Meeting of Speleology, to Trieste.
"all right, Max . Tomorrow as the meeting closes, you can officially give the news that Trieste will propose its candidature for the 2000, not before."
The morning after I ardently wished that was just a dream, but the notice was given. But considered that, by now alea jacta est, I crossed the Timavo for giving the good news to my countrymen

The reactions were so disparate, but anyway I had the unconditioned support to proceed.
1st step, finding out a place to give hospitality about 3000 speleologists with all their carriages, flock and baggage-train
The Carso is a narrow territory closed between sea and Slovenia, right places are very few.
During a reunion for BORA2000 (the name was suddenly accepted) the guys of Grmada asked if the bay of Sistiana should have been suitable.
It was the real flash of genius. Meanwhile they were waiting for a reply, I was already " watching" the spleo-camp, by the sea framed among the bay's phalesiae: a broad and beautiful place. The ideal place

A week later we were already in contact with the bay administrator, who gave us the whole disposability for both area and equipments. A brief prospecting: to value the capacity of the useful spaces.
The following meeting with the Major of Duino-Aurisina and the munificent contribution from the region Friuli Venezia Giulia , started the works for BORA2000.
The 3000 speleologists (hypothetical) will be the rest, if they would honour us with their presence.
Carso doesn't need presentation, such as the quantity and quality of its caves (over 3000). Just add the fame of feast-lovers of our speleo-countrymen, with their "likoff" and "Gran Pampel". Shake that all and prepare yourselves to the -what I dare to define- the "Woodstock" of speleologists. Come on and don't forget your equipment.
We're waiting for you at your best fit, in Trieste at BORA2000.
